Marching Band

In the Fall, all students in the VVHS band program comprise the Hawk Marching Band. No audition is required to be a part of the Hawk Marching Band.  This is a “state of the art” competitive group that explores the latest trends in competitive marching band and performs at many parades, games and regional competitions.

The Hawk Marching Band performs at halftime of all home varsity football games as well as at pre-game of away varsity football games as the schedule allows.  The band also performs at all competitive contests and festivals; approx. 3 contests per season.  The format of most contests are a prelim / finals contest.  The Marching Band can also be seen at various community support appearances based on need and accessibility.  Past performances include a neighborhood March-A-Thon and entertainment for UNM volleyball games.

Marching Band is a class for elective credit.  The band rehearses each morning during zero hour (before school).  In addition, The Hawk Marching Band gathers for band camp rehearsals each summer, generally two weeks before the school year begins as well as a few after school rehearsals. A fee is assessed each year based on need that covers operating costs of the ensemble.  Many fundraising opportunities are available.  The Hawk Marching Band unites students in grades 9-12 and provides superior performance, social, and competitive opportunities.
